Who loves Knight Rider? This gal......
Life has been incredibly weird. And crazy. And while I feel like I'm living in some sort of maniacal episode of "The Twilight Zone", this is all I got for ya right now. Because I don't have enough energy to fill you in on the rest. Nor enough hours in my day.

Vows.... Resolutions...??? Let's just call the whole thing off.
New Year's Resolutions:
I don't make 'em.
I don't keep 'em.
I don't make 'em. (Yes, I said that twice)
However.... I do VOW to be more content in life. To quit feeling sorry for myself when the kid's toys are overflowing and the kitchen is a mess and I think I DESERVE a bigger house. Because, honestly, no one DESERVES a bigger house. Or a house at all, really. And I've got a house and material things that people pray for. God has blessed me well more than I ever deserve.
I vow to try my best to keep my compulsive spending in check. (You people who market to suckers in the checkout line and with clearance items.... You're welcome. Hope you are enjoying your Mercedes). Unfortunately I'm the girl that will buy 500 of one particular thing because it is on sale for 75, 80, or 90% off. And I have no idea what I'll do with one of them, let alone multiples. The ironic thing? I hate clutter and piles of junk (like the mail that stacks up on the kitchen counter), yet I'll buy CRAP just because it's on clearance.
I vow to smile more. I don't mean to walk around with what is called "resting bitch face" (yes, there's a name for it and sorry I said an ugly word!). But it irks me to have people accuse me of being unhappy or mad all the time (complete strangers, at that) because I don't walk around catching bugs in my teeth. I will try to be more aware of that.
Sigh. So there you have it. I don't make any promises. To myself or anyone else. But I will try a little harder to be mindful of my habits.
And in the end, if nothing changes, well, it's just me being ME.
Besides, let's face it, by February, 75% of Americans will be putting their fat pants back on and fumbling with the remote, instead of the treadmill.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

A taboo disease.....
Words have always been my therapy. Whether it's through a song as I listen or whether it's putting words down on paper in a journal, or on social media as a Facebook post.
Tonight, this girl, always so full of words and sometimes humor (albeit sometimes dry) is at a loss. I have no words. Lots of emotions. But no words. Things are surreal at the moment. Very, very surreal.
Tuesday, December 23, an old friend and classmate did the unspeakable. The taboo. That one thing that no one ever talks about. It's real. And it exists. And people succumb to it daily. But you're not supposed to discuss it. Because it means something deep is going on. Something deeper than perhaps you can ever wrap your brain around. Or your heart. It's perhaps something you'll never have to face because you just (gasp) don't know ANYONE who could do such a desperate thing.
But guess what? It's real. It's a real thing. Like, really real. And it happens. To old classmates, to former teammates, to siblings, to nurses, to dentists, to lawyers, to moms and dads. It even happens to celebraties at the top of their A-game. It happens. And it's real. There's even a word for it. A long underrated, taboo, no-one-wants-to-talk-about-it, elephant-in-the-room word. And it's called suicide.
Unfortunately I've become way too comfortable with this word. This act of permanent defiance. And believe me, it is SUCH a permanent act. It's a final choice. There is no going or coming back. It's done. The grand finale. Perhaps a final act of trying to make peace with yourself while simultaneously opening up the gates of hell for those left in the aftermath.
It's become an epidemic. It's a tragedy. It's disturbing. And it's heartbreaking and SOUL CRUSHING. And tonight my heart is broken after losing an old friend and a lifelong classmate to this taboo "disease". And it's really a disease.
There was a time that I thought suicide was the most selfish act someone could commit. The ultimate "F--- You". But in my older and perhaps not-so-wiser ways... I know better. Because some of the most selfish people I know exist on this earth only to cause others grief and drama. While some of the most selfLESS people I've known have writhed around in unspoken pain and depression and anxiety. Never allowing anyone else inside their darkness because it would be too much for their loved ones to handle. I know this.
Perhaps in 2015, after this epidemic has cut such a deep trench in society, perhaps, just maybe....modern medicine will finally recognize it. That it's real. And selfless, successful, loving people succumb to it every single day. Even those with the best of intentions.
Maybe 2015 will be the year that lives are saved because people recognize what we still don't talk about. Even if just ONE life is spared.... Then modern medicine will have a great deal to be proud of.
In the meantime, pray for those who have been left victims of such a malignant Cancer. Pray hard for them. Because they will never be able to understand WHY their loved one did something so final.

Griswold Christmas Par-Tayyyy!
Last night we had our first annual Miller-Griswold Christmas party. It was sort of an experiment. And sort of a joke, because everyone knows how much Chad and I love "Christmas Vacation" and can quote every line in the movie. It's a Christmas tradition.
Aunt Bethany's Jello mold WITH champagne and Sprite. And of course, you know what the Cheerios represent. If not, WATCH THE MOVIE!!!!!!!
White Trash bars, also known as 'Cousin Eddie come to town' and a little of Snot's Puppy Chow.
The printables I found here: http://www.sohosonnet.com/crafts-and-diy/diy-holiday/national-lampoons-christmas-vacation-free-printables/
So, I had SO MUCH FUN putting this together. Like, TOO much fun. Could it be I REALLY am a Griswold? Perhaps..........
I didn't take near enough pictures. I was actually too busy laughing my head off and enjoying the night. Next year I'm taking a lot more pictures, including pictures of each couple in front of the oversized Griswold tree..... The one that's in our house..... Right now.......
Any-hoo---- here's the few pictures I took. Good times!

And put them in Dollar Tree frames. It doesn't get much better then cheap. And FREE.
A little pepper jelly over cream cheese in the shape of a tree. "Jelly of the Month Club" representin'.
Found the cupcake toppers on Etsy.
If you don't get the turkey jerky.... WATCH. THE. MOVIE.
What a crew.
SQUIIIIRREEEELLLLLLLL!!!!! (Found on Amazon for $5. Free shipping if you're cool enough to be a Prime member. Cough. Cough.)
An official Hallmark Moose Mug ornament that a friend told me about that was at a semi-local Walmart. I rushed out and bought the last 2. And gave one as a prize to the most "festive" dresser.

And I didn't take a picture before, but these were what I have out as party favors. Simple, cheap, and PRACTICAL. Hellur?! Don't we all need a little help from Jack Daniels (or wine.....) to get through the festivities.
