Life and things

Dear Diary,

I'm about to embark on a new adventure. It's called: exercising. And I am not excited about this adventure one bit. I've been kicking and screaming and in denial that I'm no longer 22 and able to burn calories just by sitting. And to commemorate this decision to make use of our family's gym membership, which my husband signed up for 2 months ago and has been going religiously, I spent my hard earned paycheck on workout clothes and new shoes. I mean, a girl has still got to look cute, right?! I haven't worn spandex in 7 years. I'm not sure the world is ready for me to return to spandex.
Sigh. So now that I have the clothes, I'm running out of excuses.
And this weekend I start bootcamp. No, not military bootcamp. Exercise bootcamp. Jesus, take the wheel and have mercy!
Meanwhile, life is so busy that sometimes I have to remind myself to take a deep breath. And drink wine.
Soccer, football, tennis, piano lessons, honor choir, and homework have taken over the Miller household. Sheronda the Honda is keeping the roads flaming hot. Oh, and proud parent moment: my oldest was recognized by our school district for having a perfect score on his MCT2 test.  Very proud of him!

DIY

My newest project, y'all. A cinderblock bench. Ridiculously cheap and easy. And FUN.

Serenity.

I'm out here, on a beautiful, cool night. Which is very rare for us southerners in the middle of summer. I'm just pondering away. Counting my blessings. Being thankful for such a beautiful and quiet night. I could take nights like this year round. No heat, no humidity, and the crickets singing me a lullaby.........

Back porch makeover

We have given our backyard patio a makeover. I love it! My little corner of peace and relaxation. I also call it my Margaritaville corner.

Bah-HUMBUG

I realize that a lot of people love this time of year; spring turning into summer, plants blooming, gardens growing, school year coming to a close, beach vacations, ect. While I love the flowers and the gardens and the beach vacations, I still get the blues this time of year. I realize that is strange. And I'm not even sure why that is. The only thing I can surmise is that now that I have children, when the school year comes to a close, I realize a new school year is just on the horizon and they will be that much older. I think the newness and the freshness of spring serves as a reminder that time continues to go on and on with no way to stop or control it. In my blue attitude I feel like it sort of mocks me. The dead of winter has come and gone and the air is heavy with reminders of time marching on.

Just yesterday Brennan brought home a letter preparing us for the cost of a big field trip the 5th graders take every year to Washington D.C. I mean, did you read what I just typed? Did you catch it?! FIFTH GRADE. He turns 10 in twelve days. How is that possible? I cannot wrap my brain around the fact that I have a 10 year old child. One who is bright, humorous, on fire for Jesus, a talented piano player, and is more than I deserve.

So there you have it. Bah-humbug. I have the Spring turning into summer blues. I may be the first person in history to suffer from such.
