20 Weeks.

All is well. I just returned from the doctor and I have gained sufficient weight. So, that means everyone can LAY OFF of me about eating, or not eating, or not eating enough. I'll take care of my own business from now on. Contrary to popular belief I DO obey doctor's orders most of the time. (Instead of milkshakes I drink Ensure so that the baby can benefit from it.... a little more healthy than milkshakes.)

We had an ultrasound today. It was definitely obvious that it is a boy. We got to see him sucking his thumb, grabbing his feet, and yawning. It's amazing how clear those ultrasounds are. It was so cute. We even saw an extreme closeup of his face. The ultrasound technician even printed Brennan his very own pictures of his little brother, so as soon as we got home Brennan wanted to hang his pictures on the fridge. So, everything is going well. Baby is healthy, I'm healthy, Baby is growing and active, my weight is where it should be, blood pressure is good....all is well.

It's a great day in the neighborhood....

Today was an absolutely FABULOUS day. Why? Because I did NOTHING. And by nothing, I mean, nothing. The most work this day consisted of was deciding which position was most comfortable on the couch and lifting the remote to change channels. I did wash our sheets and cook supper, but for the most part, I did nothing. It was a great day for nothing, too. I just listened to the rain and watched it outside my window and curled up on the couch. I want to relive this day. I may never get another chance for a day like today.

"The Office"

Last night, Chad and I were watching our favorite weeknight lineup of television shows (it's the only night we can sit down together and agree on what to watch). This certain lineup consists of "My Name is Earl", "Scrubs" (my favorite show ever), and "The Office". Well, about 30 seconds into "The Office", I got so tickled at Michael, the boss on the show, that I had what I consider to be an emotional breakdown. In 26 years of my life on this earth I have never laughed so hard at anything. And I guess because I'm pregnant, my emotions got out of control and I started crying. It wasn't this thing of I laughed so hard I had tears coming out of my eyes, or I laughed so hard it made my cry. I was laughing and crying at the same time. And I couldn't control it. Every time I tried to get control of my emotions and take a deep breath I would think about the scene all over again and then the laughter/crying started all over. This went on for a good ten minutes. I had to pause the DVR while I tried to stop myself from this outburst. Chad was sitting next to me on the couch, and was beginning to think I had lost a slight part of my brain. That show is hysterical! What makes it so funny is the fact that no matter who you are, and what type of office environment you have ever worked in, you have worked with some character on that show. If you're like me, you've worked with a version of all of them. Not the office I work at now, but my former place of employment. And no matter what job you have, and no matter who your boss is and how great or not-so-great your boss might be, everyone's boss has a small part of Michael in them. That is what makes it so funny. In case you can't tell, I highly recommend that show! It is a riot.

Before I dash out the door, I had to come blog about this overwhelmingly blogworthy story. So, I'm trying to figure out what to wear to go have dinner, because I'm still at that impossible stage of in between clothes. My mother-in-law bought me 3 maternity shirts she found on sale. One is very, very cute and bright pink. I love it. As I was tossing the price tag in the garbage, I caught a glimpse of the name of the color: Pink balloon. What the #$%^* ?! Only a man would name a maternity shirt something so awful. A man who has never had a pregnant wife. I love the shirt, but now I can only think of feeling like a pink balloon every time I put it on. Sheesh. That man needs to be shot.

$57.73

That is how much it cost us to fill up the Camry last night. Why am I not overly eager to get a bigger, newer car at this moment, even if we COULD afford it? Two reasons: #1)We hate the thought of being prisoners to debt. No car payments. Both cars are paid for. Granted they're older and have high mileage, but their paid for. #2) I can't afford these outrageous gas prices. Unless we got another Camry or something smaller, which would defeat the purpose of us getting another car right now with two kids in the future. So, besides dinner with Marie tonight, possibly church tomorrow night and work on Thursday, it looks like I will be a recluse for the rest of the week. Which is okay, because I have a lot I should try to get done around the house. We plan on having a garage sale in a month (our only free weekend between now and then, ugh) and I am already trying to EMOTIONALLY and mentally prepare myself for cleaning out junk and getting things ready.

Which brings me to our extreme makeover. Chad and his sister painted our living room Friday and then Chad and I rearranged the furniture and bought new end tables. Wow, what a difference a coat of paint and a little furniture movement makes. I feel like I am in a whole new house. Chad painted Brennan's room a couple of weekends ago. We went from his John Deere nursery (yes, John Deere) to Cars "big boy" room. Sniff. They grow up so fast. Next Chad and his sister are going to strip the ugly wallpaper in the extra bathroom and we are going with a deep blue, and a nautical theme. Then, as soon as I decide on the nursery, we are going to paint that room. Chad and I have also been trying our hand at amateur gardening. We had one of those raised boxes that previous owners had used as small garden. When we moved in it was nothing but weeds and a hopeless tomato plant. I saved the tomatoes the rest of that summer, then just gave up on the ugly box. I got tired of looking at the ugliness, so Chad cleaned it out, hoed it up, and planted some caladiums, irises, and other flowers. We'll so how we do. All I do is water it.

Better finish my coffee so I can get ready for dinner with Marie at P.F. Chang's! Yummy. And yes, I'm drinking coffee for the first time since I found out I was pregnant. I haven't been feeling like my usual self for a few days, and I have been finding it very hard to stay awake during the day. I've forgotten how much I love coffee.

Since I've already yelled at Chad this morning and still don't feel better, I shall put forth some venting effort here. All Chad had to do was roll out of bed, eat the omelet I made, take a quick shower, shave, and put on some already ironed clothes. Here I am still waiting on him. I took a shower, washed my hair, styled my hair, made two omelets, cleaned up the mess, put my make-up on, made up the bed, now I'm blogging and I am STILL waiting on Chad to get in the car so we can go to church. AND we have no child in the house this morning. Brennan spent the night with my mom last night. So it's just us two to get ourselves ready. I'm extremely irritated, so before I say anything I shall regret I will sign off for now. Maybe next time I will be in a better, happier mood. Chad is worse than a woman when it comes to getting ready!!!!!!!!!!!

I had to make that dreaded trip to the pediatrician this morning. For Brennan of course, not for me. We had a serious heart-to-heart talk with Bren about going to the doctor and how the doctor is our friend. He is an AWFUL patient. It usually takes about 3 people to hold him down just to shine a light in his ears and in his mouth. Fortunately Bren has always been healthy, so we don't have to go the doctor that often. But when we do....my blood pressure hits the roof and I get more nervous than Brennan. So today, he behaved PERFECTLY. He was an angel. He cooperated, he didn't fuss, he even got out of the car on his own free will. I didn't have to pull him out kicking and screaming using my legs to push away from the car and shut the car door. So we went to Wal-Mart and picked out a toy (his MiMi gave him $10 to get something if he behaved like a big boy) and he called his daddy on my cell phone and told him that he was such a big boy and Mama was so proud of him. He bragged on himself all day telling everybody that he was such a big boy at the doctor. The bad part to this story.... in a month it will be time for his 4 year check up, and it will be time to update the immunizations. And I think there's about 3 or 4 that are given. My poor baby finally gets over his hatred and fear of the doctor and now it's going to go down the drain. We just can't catch a break around here.
